PRESS RELEASE
€20,000 donation to support families in times of need
Staying true to its people-centered values and recognizing the importance of supporting the National Health System and families, Hellas Gold proudly participated as a Platinum Sponsor in the establishment of Greece's first Ronald McDonald Family Room, in the "Aghia Sofia" Children's Hospital, in Athens.
Specifically, Hellas Gold has “adopted” a room within the Family Room, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming space for the families of children undergoing treatment. This initiative provides families with the opportunity to stay close to their children during hospitalization.
This donation, totaling €20,000, is part of Hellas Gold’s commitment to its broader strategy for responsibility and social contribution. It is a key component of the company’s initiatives under its strategic pillar: “Access to a Sustainable Health System and Support for Vulnerable Groups.”
Notably, in the current year, Hellas Gold has invested around €130,000 in health and community wellness initiatives as part of its Corporate Responsibility commitments, with total CSR investments amounting to €1.46 million by the end of October.
Additional initiatives toward this goal include providing equipment for the local Paleochori Health Center, funding studies for the expansion of the Arnaia Elderly Care Facility, donations to regional hospitals, supporting The Smile of the Child organization by covering road tax for its vehicles, and assisting local charities.
The official opening of the Family Room took place on Wednesday, November 13, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Health Mr. Marios Themistocleous, representing the Greek Government. Among other attendees were RMHC Global General Director Rodney Jordan, RMHC Greece President Ioannis Apostolopoulos, and "Aghia Sofia" Children’s Hospital Director Emmanouil Papasavvas.
During the ceremony, Hellas Gold President Christos Balaskas stated: “We are proud to provide families with a space of calm and rest, allowing them to stay close to their children while they are hospitalized. At times like these, families need to focus on the recovery of their children without distractions, and it is an honor and responsibility for us to contribute. Hellas Gold is committed to supporting initiatives that meet the essential needs of our communities.”
Hellas Gold extends its gratitude to Ronald McDonald House Charities Greece (RMHC Greece) for their invaluable partnership and congratulates everyone involved in the completion of this meaningful project.
