Celebrating World Environment Day by enhancing transparency and accountability!

Hellas Gold celebrates this year's World Environment Day by launching the new simplified platform for monitoring its environmental performance, further enhancing transparency, accountability, and trust with its social partners.

This significant tool offers immediate and easy access to environmental data related to the company's activities. Specifically, the renewed platform presents data collected from the Environmental Monitoring Program, which the company has developed and installed in and around its facilities at the Kassandra Mines, in a simpler, more direct, and visually friendly manner, with a focus on aspects that directly impact the daily lives of local residents.

Hellas Gold's award-winning environmental monitoring program began its operation in 1995 and currently includes a network of 500 monitoring points, through which 15 environmental parameters are qualitatively and quantitatively recorded, examined, and measured. These parameters include the quality of surface and groundwater, air, and soil, noise levels, vibrations, and dust emissions, as well as the ecological status of the area's biodiversity.

Visitors can navigate the area through a three-dimensional, interactive map, select one of the 500 monitoring stations, and read in a simple way, using everyday examples, the values of each environmental parameter monitored at that station. This allows visitors to easily understand the quality of the environment in the area at a glance. The platform also features historical data, allowing for comparisons with the past.

With this new application, Hellas Gold ensures that everyone has direct access to timely, understandable, and reliable information about its environmental performance, regardless of their familiarity with the subject and scientific terminology. The company remains committed to maintaining open, honest, and transparent dialogue with its social partners regarding its activities in the area.

The new platform is part of the company's broader digital transformation strategy, adopting innovative technologies and practices that promote sustainable development. It was implemented by Geospatial Enabling Technologies under the scientific guidance of Enveco.
