During the 7th Inclusivity Lounge organized by Women On Top at the Delphi Economic Forum, Erika Xirouchaki, Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs, participated in a discussion on how women's employment and equal access to the labor market can contribute as solutions to the complex demographic issues.
Among other topics, Erika referred to the research supported by Hellas Gold in the Municipality of Aristotle, aimed at understanding the challenges and concerns faced by women in the municipality. The goal was to effectively address these issues through initiatives focusing on women's empowerment. Through this research, concerns were raised about the prospects, professional integration, and difficulties due to the lack of healthcare, education, and childcare facilities—key structures that would facilitate their integration into the workforce.
Ms. Xirouchaki highlighted the importance of culture, emphasizing that promoting gender equality and equitable access to the labor market as holistic state policies could significantly address demographic issues.
Companies operating within local communities, such as Hellas Gold, contribute to governmental efforts through actions, mentoring, and educational programs that take into account the concerns and expectations of residents, particularly women who intend to be active citizens.
Since our company employs approximately 10% of the population of the Municipality of Aristotle, raising awareness and educating our people about cultivating a culture of inclusion and respect in the workplace are extremely important. In this context, our Training Center in the area will soon be operational for upskilling and reskilling our employees.
Equally important is the regular and systematic communication with our local stakeholders and residents, enabling us through open dialogue to monitor the genuine needs of the local community. This helps us focus on issues related to women's empowerment and the education of the younger generation.
