Stratoni mining facilities

MINING-STORAGE FACILITIES & PORT

The historical Mavres Petres mine

The mining facilities at Stratoni (non-producing mine) include the underground mine of Mavres Petres and the Stratoni facility which are in care and maintenance since 2021. Exploration drilling is currently carried out to identify new, economically sustainable deposits in Stratoni Fault Corridor.

The Mavres Petres mine entered production in 1957 (operated by G.A.C.C.P.F) and following upgrades, it re-opened by Hellas Gold in 2006. During its operation, the underground mine produced lead, silver and zinc concentrates.

Today, the facilities at Stratoni comprise our offices, the Quality Control Laboratory, as well as storage and port facilities.

STRATONI PORT FACILITIES

An exports hub in Halkidiki

The Stratoni port serves as connection point between Hellas Gold and other, primarily European markets. Here, bulk concentrates are loaded onto ships to be exported to European markets. It is estimated that, each year, 75,000 tonnes of concentrates are exported from the port at Stratoni to markets outside Greece.

Τhe port facilities at Stratoni host the company’s storage facilities. Bulk concentrates are stored there, until loaded and shipped to their final destination.

We aim to achieve best environmental management during the storage and loading of concentrates for shipments. The port has been upgraded to improve our loading and storage system on an ongoing basis.
